Mahasamadhi
I have heard people refer to Paramahansaji's mahasamadhi as his last great samadhi. For a master is mahasamadhi the final stage of liberation into full Christ-Conciousness? What is the spiritual significance of mahasamadhi for a master? Is mahasamadhi entered only by advanced yogis or by all levels of yogis? These are a few questions that have been on my mind of late. If anyone could kindly respond I would be grateful.

Hi dear one,
I can only add that Mahasamadhi is by definition the last final conscious exit from the mortal body. This attainment is achieved only by the greatest of practicing yogis'. Mahasamadhi is the last meditation or conscious communion with God, when a perfect master merges himelf in the cosmic AUM and casts off the physical body. A master, in fact, knows beforehand the time God has appointed for him to leave his bodily resdence. This is how it differs from samahdi and who is capable of mahasamadhi. See Man's Eternal Quest for more information. IDL, Sylphie |
