Dear Lotuspath, Your username reminds me of my father`s specialty in medicine(Pathology). Here`s a picture of my Papa Dr. Mario. He`s at the center of our family picture. At the back is me with my brother, Junior. Seated at the right is my mother, Julie. At the left is my sister, Mae Rebecca ( a doctor who migrated to Wisconsin, USA). This picture was taken after my Papa`s birthday(May 29). The digital camera used was not reset( May 21). Your`s truly, Rajakrsna

Well, my user name comes from my actual name -- Greg.
![]() I have gone by "deeper_peace" on other forums. I once had a transforming meditation marked by a fathomless peace. After that I felt I understood what the Christian Bible meant by the phrase "peace that passeth all understanding". Hence ... deeper peace.

When I went to India last November, I started out by meeting my brother in McCleod Ganje where the Tibetans and the Dalai Llama now stay. I was particularly struck by the Green Tara statue in the temples. Ever since then I've just been a fan. I even bought a wall hanging hand made and blessed by a monk as well as a little statue. I'm a man(dude), but I use that name because I think it suits me best and here's a trippy story from India to prove my point.
So I meditate in McCleod for a month. All the while I'm seeing crystal clear visuals of Tibetan Buddhist Monk faces, sublime dreams of a young Llama guiding me to a beautiful shimmering golden city, and one particularly cool meditation of outward expansion like the rings of Saturn in my mind exploding outward into space. My original mission in India is to find an authentic Ayurvedic doctor and get some medicine for an acute case of occipital neuralgia that has plagued me with intense headaches for most of my life. I can't find any I trust in Mccleod and it's getting colder and colder. My brother suggests I go to Goa which is where "all the tourists go" according to my brother. I agree and part ways in mid December. Green Tara is a deity/embodiment(?) of protection and is usually always seen with a circle around her as a protective barrier. Per Wickipedia: Quote:
Upon reaching Goa, I find it to be a hedonistic Eurotrash paradise that is funded almost entirely on tourism and crappy techno parties. However, it just so happens that an Ayurvedic Doctor from Calcutta(sp?) with impressive credentials is able to supply me with just the medicine I need. However, now I'm down to little money and 3 1/2 months to go. Now it turns into one long drawn out passage of time where I'm bombarded with constant temptation(sex, drugs and horrid techno parties). I felt like I was in the town Pinnochio was brought to where all the little boys turned into asses. My widowed Portugese landlady is making strong sexual advances on me and after a couple months of this, one day I'm just bored and depraved enough to bite. Just as we're about four feet from each other and closing an invisible barrier seemingly blocks and or shocks us and we are jolted apart from each other. We're both stunned a little bit at this development and part ways. I'm saved from debauchery and probably an STD or three and I always like to think that it was Green Tara's protective bubble that saved me that day. I hope that wasn't too over the top but it has a happy ending. Although I never had enough money to make it to the YSS/SRF ashram in Dakshineswar, I completed the medicinal cycle and no longer have chronic headaches. My mission to India was ultimately a success... BTW-I also met another SRF devotee much by chance while I was there but he had to leave so I never got to hang out with him. |

Yup, it's been a loonnnng journey to eradicate that issue. It was just about the last card I had to play. Now the peace comes easy and I can fine tune other aspects of my life. However, having won that battle, now there is a general sense of malaise or laziness that I have to get over. I would have never made it without Master's help. His quotes like "God never puts you in a situation you can't overcome" and his practical advice definitely came in handy. There's also a ton of other people and quotes and motivation that came into play and I give thanks to them all.
It was actually a Swami who came over to Cape Cod that told me that I would mature very fast in India and after reflecting back on the trip I can see how this was true. There were other avenues of healing I contemplated but ultimately it was my respect for his order that made me seek an Ayurvedic DR. in India. |

This is interesting to me. I have constant headaches as well due to anxiety. My bad lifestyle doesn't help it. However, i was in Goa in February aswell. Just for a holiday. I know what you mean about the clubs and tourists. I avoided the clubs. I also picked up a rupee coin with a saints face on it, which i understand is rare.

Dave,
If you want I can discuss further or give you information on how you can contact my Doctor. He lives in the Kalcutta region in West Bengal near the Himalayas in the offseason. He collects his herbs in the Himalayas and then comes to Goa when the tourists are there. I was in Anjuna Beach when I met him. He had tons of old photos and letters of recommendation and was especially patient with me. He acted as Dr, counselor, psychiatrist and spiritual guide through the whole process. He gave me lots of little extras and the whole treatment cost me very little. The thing about Ayurvedic Doctors is that you need to find an authentic one. There are tons who claim to be in India. Which is why it is very helpful to get a referral. Actually, my brother says that the Tibetans in McCleod Ganj are exceptional with their medicine and also offer a very viable alternative. I would have seen his Doctor but he was off making house calls around the world. I could also get you his name and website if you were so inclined. I hear he is world famous. As a sufferer of chronic headaches in the past I have a deep sympathy for anyone who deals with even very few light tension headaches. They make it very difficult to change your lifestyle and habits... |
